How Many Dams were Built During Imran Khan’s Tenure? PDM Minister Khursheed Shah Told.
In the 75-year history of Pakistan, dams began to be built during the reign of Imran Khan after the reign of Ayub Khan. Between these two periods, none of the governments in Pakistan paid attention to building dams. Imran Khan is the only prime minister during whose tenure three big dams and many small dams were started. During the session of the Senate, when the water reservoirs minister of the current government was asked about how many dams were worked on during Imran Khan’s tenure and how many dams have been completed so far.
Responding to this, Khurshid Shah said that during the tenure of Imran Khan, work was started on 59 dams, out of which 26 small dams have been completed and work is ongoing on the rest. The government is also providing funds to complete these dams. The current government criticizes Imran Khan that no development work was done during Imran Khan’s tenure, but on the contrary, the ministers of the current government themselves admit that a lot of development work was done during Imran Khan’s tenure.
If the dams were built in time in Pakistan, the risk of flooding inside Pakistan would have been reduced and the water would have been stored inside the dams and we could have used it later. But the people who ruled in Pakistan did not pay attention to building dams but made dams contraversial. This is the reason why Pakistan is facing huge disaster today and many parts of Pakistan are flooded. Pakistan has lost 10 billion dollars due to this Floods.
