Cannes Festival: Pakistan’s first film ‘Joyland’ won the award.

Pakistani film ‘Joyland’ has won an award at Cannes, the world’s most prestigious film festival.

Pakistani director, writer and actor Saeem Sadiq’s short film ‘Joyland’ has won a jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival in the “Undertaker Regard Category”, which is considered to be the second most prestigious award of the festival.
It was the first Pakistani film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The world premiere of ‘Joyland’ took place on Monday in which the cast of the film appeared on the red carpet. Producers Sarmad Khost and Apoorva Charan’s cast includes Sarwat Gilani, Sania Saeed, Ali Junejo, Alina Khan, Safina Jafri.
The story of this film revolves around the life of an eunuch. The category of feature films at Cannes Film Festival is limited to only 14 films.
Earlier, on May 23, during the screening of the film, the participants stood on their seats and applauded.
It may be recalled that Saeem Sadiq’s 2019 short film ‘Darling’ was screened at the Venice and Toronto Film Festival.
The Cannes Festival, the world’s largest film festival, kicked off on May 17 and will run until May 28.
